25 WAYS TO STAY CREATIVE

Working in a creative field can be hard. After a long day of brainstorming or staring at a computer for 8 hours a day can really drain you. These 29 things may help you get the creative juices flowing again.


MAKE A LIST

Sometimes make a list of ideas can be the best thing you can do when brainstorming. The list can be about anything, who knows it could spark your next great idea.


CARRY A NOTEBOOK WITH YOU

Have some kind of notebook with you all the time. You never know when a idea may come to you. Personally I keep a notebook on my nightstand in case I get some kind of idea at night or in a dream. You be surprised at what you may come up with.


TRY FREE WRITING

Try writing a poem or short story. It can be about anything that may help you come up with your next big idea.


GET AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER

Step away from your computer, go for a walk. If your like me and the weather is not always in your favor try walking around your office or house.


QUIT BEATING YOURSELF UP

Listen not every idea is going to be the next great thing. Some time the ideas that you may come up with are going to be really shitty. But those terrible ideas could lend you to something much better in the future.


TAKE BREAKS

Take a break, try focusing on something else for a little bit. Watch some tv or YouTube, take a walk or shower. Ideas are always flowing but give your brain sometime to rest.


SING IN THE SHOWER ( OR OTHER PLACES )

Sing one of your favorite tunes in the shower or if your bolder do it in other places. Some of the lyrics to your jam could inspire you. Plus everyone sounds get in the shower, its a know fact.


DRINK COFFEE OR GREEN TEA

Take a coffee break. Caffeine has been known to wake the body up.


LISTEN TO NEW MUSIC

Explore iTunes or YouTube to find some new music. Sometime listening to something new can give you great ideas. If you only listen to country music try rock who knows what could happen.


BE OPEN

Be open about your ideas with others. Share your thoughts with the people around you. They could help you come up with a new idea


SURROUND YOURSELF WITH CREATIVE PEOPLE

Get a group of friends or co-workers and them know about your ideas, it could lend to something new.


GET FEEDBACK

See what other people think and go from there.


COLLABORATE WITH OTHERS

Instead of working alone bring someone else in the project to get there input. Group project always ends up the best.


DON'T GIVE UP

Never give up ever. Keep going even in the worst of situations.


15- PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

The more you practice at your craft the better you become. Keep coming up with ideas and working off of them. Just because something doesn't turn out great the first time doesn' mean it wont the next time.

ALLOW YOURSELF TO MAKE MISTAKES

Allow for mistakes to be made and work off of them.


GO SOMEWHERE NEW

Travel around. Go to the park or go on a road trip. In new places an idea can hit you.


COUNT YOUR BLESSING

Think about how luck you are and how much you appreciate all that your have. Also look back on the great ideas you have had in the past.


GET LOTS OF REST

Sleep on it, sometimes the best ideas come from a good nights sleep.


TAKE RISKS

Try something different, something out of your comfort zone. Try something on your bucket list or something that scares you.


BREAK THE RULES

Break some of the design rules. Just make sure that you still stay away from Comic Sans, yuck.


DON'T FORCE IT

Don't force the idea thats how you can get a super brain fart. Try thinking of something else for a bit.


READ A PAGE FROM THE DICTIONARY

Pick a random page from the dictionary and just read it. I know that sounds boring but it can really help get the wheels turning.

CREATE SOME KIND OF ARTWORK

Do something creative, create a painting, do a drawing.Anything that could help you.


STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS

Don't compare yourself to other designers or people. Everyone is different with different skills. Just be yourself.
